I have an '89 328 GTS, with just under 1400 miles. I have looked into getting a paint protection clear bra. I found 2 companies that have kits specific to the 328. I have seen many clear bras on newer Ferraris 355s and 360s and I have even seen it on a metalic sliver 328.

My question is, the paint is the usual red, its the original paint and back in 1989 I don't think there was any clear coat over non-metalic Ferrari paints. Is it a problem to put the clear bra on a non-clear coated original Ferrari paint color? Has anyone done this with one of their Ferraris from the late 1980s and have you had any problems with it?

Thanks,
Dino

I just called a local authorized dealer. They said they have put clear bras on 328s and some later 308s without any problems. I hope this helps others who may have a question about having a clear bra put on a mid to late 80's Ferrari.

Best regards,
Dino

Hello Dino,
I have an 89 328 myself and I want to put the 3M clear bra on too.
You mentioned in your post that you found 2 companies that make a pre-cut product. Can you please send me the info on these companies. Thanks, J.

Hi J,

I considered a few companies, but narrowed it down to Roadblock by Autobahnd, and Venture Shield by Venture Tape. The choice of various companies may have something to do with where you live and installation. Not all companies have someone to install the kit in your area, and unless you know what you are doing self installation isn't a great idea. Much of how "invisible" the clear bras look is based on skilled and experienced the installer is.

I chose Roadblock by Autobahnd, which is what is installed at Ferrari New England. They did a nice job and their kit protects more that I expected it to cover, and more than what the other kit would have covered.

I hope this helps, and please email me or write again if you have additional questions.
Dino
