My '94 348 came sans owner's manual. Since I do drive the car weekly, and this is my first F-car, I'd like to be sure I'm checking the right fluids before each drive. For example, what is the proper way to check the oil level (oil hot/cold etc)? Anything else I should check before each weekly jaunt?

Thanks

First off, I'd recommend buying a copy of the Owner's manual. www.ferraribooks.com has them at $150. These manuals provide much more technical help than the typical domestic car owner's manual and are worth the effort to obtain.

Oil level is typically checked on a Ferrari about one minute after stopping the engine. Other fluids can be checked as well, though nothing unusual here. Again, the manual would help in identifying things like the transaxle fluid check plug, proper coolant level, etc.

Engine oil should be checked warm. The procedure is to run the car up to operating temp, shut the car off and then check the oil. Make sure thaat it is on level ground.

The coolant should be checked cold.

I check the gearbox oil either way, and it doesn't seem to make a difference.
