I have recently received my 89 TR back from extensive and expensive engine service. A section of the fuse box went out causing the fans to go out. The bottom line was that the head warped. This happened during a really bad storm.

In any event, I had the 30,000 mile service completed while the engine was out. I received the car back about three weeks ago and the engine is running great. However, since I got the car back, the transmission is acting unusual. Thus far, I have put about 500 miles on the car.

When driving and down shifting the car seems to sporadically not go into a lower gear. For example I will shift from fourth to third and the car seems to be in fifth gear. I up shift back to fourth and the revs increase. I downshift again and the problem seems to go away. This has occured during fourth to third and fourth to second shifts. At first I thought it was my imagination. What could this be? Can I continue to drive the car? I plan on putting another 300 miles on it this week.

I am going back to my Ferrari service facility in two weeks.

Best regards,

Curt

This should easily be confirmed by watching the tach. In any case, it sounds like a linkage or selector adjustment problem. I would contact the service people and take it back ASAP.
